Pedagogy: As I was reading Brandt for class I came across pedagogy which I was unfamiliar with. I thought it meant to have an idea but when I researched the word it said it meant the method and practice of teaching. It related to the article by learning new ways to teach in English classrooms.

Metacognitive knowledge: Today in class our instructor was lecturing about what we had read and he was going over it with us. He told us that metacognitive was the same thing as conditional knowledge. I didn't know what it meant and he told us it meant knowing when and why to use a particular strategy based on understanding the task and ourselves. I then saw how it related to the examples of knowledge he had gave us.

Vignette: As I was reading a my book I had no idea what this word had meant. I thought it meant it was a type of description of some sort describing something. It turned out I was right after I researched the definition. It means a brief evocative description, account or episode. It related to what I was reading by describing what people from other cultures do and how they dress.

Perceive: As I was reading my sociology book about three days ago I wasn't sure of what this word meant. I tried to figure out what it meant by just rereading the sentence over and over again but that didn't work. My thoughts were that it meant the same thing as receive since they have familiar sounds. I searched what it meant and perceive means to become aware or conscious of something. I found out that just because words might sound the same or rhyme they don't necessarily have the same meaning. Perceive relates to what I was reading by becoming aware of the communities surroundings and not let anything that can be damaging to them. I know that I always perceive in my classes and know what is going on at all times.
